2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF

If you want a high-performance sports car, look no further than the 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF. This model comes in two trims: Club and Grand Touring. The Club starts at $38,950 and is available exclusively via Build to Order on Mazda’s site. The Grand Touring starts at $35,750. Both come standard with a SKYACTIV-G 2 DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine with variable valve timing (VVT) located front midship that delivers 181 hp at 7,000 rpm.

Both also come standard with SKYACTIV-MT six-speed manual transmission with short-throw shifter. The Grand Touring has the option of six-speed Sport automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The manual transmission gets an EPA estimated fuel economy of 26/34 miles city/highway, and the automatic transmission has a small increase of 26/35 miles city/highway. Both trims come standard with 205/45R17 high-performance tires and 17×7 aluminum alloy wheels, differing only in color. The Club’s wheels are BBS with a Dark Gunmetal finish, and the Grand Touring comes in a Dark Silver finish.

The Grand Touring comes as is, but upgrading to the Club allows you to opt for the uber-sporty Brembo/BBS RECARO package. This gets you Brembo front brakes with red calipers, Mazda rear brakes (also with red calipers), BBS forged 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels in a Dark Gunmetal finish, an Aero kit with side sill extensions, and a rear bumper skirt in Brilliant Black, as well as heated Black RECARO sport seats.

2024 Mazda CX-90

If you’re looking for spacious luxury, the 2024 Mazda CX-90 is the perfect SUV. This model is available in eight trims, making it easy to find the perfect combination of features. The top trim is the six-seater 3.3 Turbo S Premium Plus. It starts at $59,950 and features a 340-hp e-SKYACTIV-G 3.3L Turbo Inline six-cylinder powertrain with a rear-biased i-ACTIV AWD drivetrain.

Exterior features include high beam control, LED daytime running lights, LED headlights with auto on/off, an LED combination taillight, and an adaptive front-lighting system. You’ll get rain-sensing variable-intermittent windshield wipers, heated side mirrors with integrated LED turn signals, a power sliding-glass panoramic moonroof with a tilt feature, a hands-free rear power liftgate with programmable height adjustment, and aluminum roof rails in a Satin Chrome finish.

The interior comes standard with three-zone automatic climate control with pollen filter, push button start, front and rear door courtesy lights, remote fuel-door and hood release, Mazda’s advanced keyless entry system, and Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go and auto speed limit assist. Plug your devices into the two front-row or two second-row USB-C inputs. Other luxury standards include ventilated and heated front- and second-row seats, quilted nappa leather-trimmed seats, a Bose Centerpoint surround sound system with AudioPilot and 12 speakers, and a wireless phone charger.

2023 Mazda3

If it’s a comfortable commuter sedan you’re after, the 2023 Mazda3 is the answer. Available in six trims, we’ll look at the second and fourth highest: the 2.5 S Select and 2.5 S Carbon Edition. The Select has a starting MSRP of $23,950, and the Carbon Edition starts at $27,200. Both trims come standard with a powerful SKYACTIV-G 2.5 DOHC four-cylinder with VVT and a cylinder deactivation engine. This delivers 191 hp at 6,000 rpm and 186 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. The Select has front-wheel drive (FWD), and the Carbon Edition gives you a choice between FWD and i-ACTIV AWD.

Both come with blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, LED headlights, a 7-inch LCD meter display, an 8.8-inch full-color center display, infotainment system voice command, multifunction commander control, mobile 911 automatic emergency notification, a three-year trial of Mazda Connected Services, dual USB audio inputs, and Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming capability.

With the Select, you get an AM/FM audio system with eight speakers and leatherette-trimmed sport seats. The Carbon Edition gets you a Bose 12-speaker premium audio system with Centerpoint and AudioPilot, red leather-trimmed sport seats, heated front seats, and an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with power-adjustable lumbar support and two-position memory.

2023 Mazda MX-30 EV

If you want to sell your car and go all-electric, the 2023 Mazda MX-30 EV, available only in California, is equal parts performance and luxury. The base trim is the MX-30 EV, with a starting MSRP of $34,110, and the higher of the two trims is the Premium Plus, with a starting MSRP of $37,120. Both come standard with a 143 hp e-SKYACTIV electric motor with an EPA-estimated MPGe of 98/85/92 city/highway/combined, a 100-mile driving range, and a 35 kWh lithium-ion battery.

Both trims come standard with signature LED headlights and combination taillights, LED daytime running lights, rain-sensing variable-intermittent windshield wipers, a rear roof spoiler, and a power sliding-glass moonroof with a one-touch-open feature and interior sunshade. The front grille has a Gloss Black finish with grille shutters. Both trims also have 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, freestyle side doors, and black heated power-folding side mirrors with LED turn signal indicators and memory positioning.

On the inside of both trims, you’ll find a 7-inch LCD meter display, windshield-project full-color active driving display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, heated front seats, and push button start. Safety features across both include a tire pressure monitoring system, Driver Attention Alert, lane-keep assist, Smart City Brake Support, whiplash-reducing front seat headrests, LATCH child safety seat anchors and upper tethers, and lane departure warning.

Opting for the Premium Plus gets you additional features, such as an auto-dimming driver’s side mirror, a Bose 12-speaker premium audio system rather than the MX-30 EV’s eight-speaker audio system, a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, Mazda advanced keyless entry, front map lights and a cargo area light, a heated steering wheel, and SiriusXM satellite radio with a three-month trial subscription.
